  1. Do I need to be a Shepherd of the Hills Member to participate?
    No, in fact we encourage community involvement.

 

  1. What form of Martial Arts will this class be training?
    A self defense art called Aikido. A very high form of self defense, achieving the ability to defend against many attackers in many different situations. 

 

  1. Will they be teaching eastern religious philosophy connected with most Martial Arts?
    No! In fact the instructor is a minister of the Gospel and uses biblical principles in all training.

 

  1. Are the instructors highly trained?
    Our instructor is a highly classified black belt trained by world class instructors.

 

  1. Will there be different belt colors awarded?
    Yes, your child will be able to train all the way to a black belt classification if desired.

 

  1. Will this class be available year around?
    Training will continue year around in 6-8 week sessions that will run quarterly.

 

  1. What can I expect from this Martial Arts class?
    We focus heavily on discipline, respect, and a hard work ethic in our training. Although Martial Arts can be fun, that is not our main focus.

 

  1. Will my child receive a uniform?
    Uniforms are available at a minimal cost. Uniforms are not required for first session participants. If you’re planning on continued training uniforms will be required.

 

  1. Will my child be competing against other Martial Arts clubs?
    We will be training and competing mainly within the Shepherd Sports network. The possibilities of competing outside the network are under consideration.

 

  1. Who can take this class?
    Boys and Girls ages 5 to 13
