Our mission here at Shepherd Sports is to reach those who love to play sports and want to know God better through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Our goal is that, through our ministry, our community and the entire city of Los Angeles will see the love of our Savior and the beauty of His salvation. Our hope and prayer is that this would be God’s story, not our own.
If you serve or participate within Shepherd Sports in any capacity, we want you to know that we’re being called to go outside the walls of the church and reach those who have never heard the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ, and those who may need to return to Him. We welcome everyone through our doors and onto our courts, but we also have responsibility to go into the world and reach out to others as well (Matthew 28:19). That is what “and ONE” is all about.
What does “and ONE” mean?
At Shepherd Sports, we strive to see one more life transformed in the name of Jesus. We pray that we may see one more miracle performed in a person’s life. We work to see one more marriage restored and one more heart renewed. As in the game of basketball, why get two points when you can get one three? Why should we simply be satisfied with leading one person to Jesus when, if we work a little harder, we can help another person, and another one after that?
We’re thrilled to spread the message of salvation in Jesus Christ so that it may help someone who needs His love. In our ministry, we’re being called to step outside of our comfort zones and work hard to help people find what they’re searching for—in Jesus. Sure, we get to have fun and play some ball, but the great news is that, through Shepherd Sports, the benefit of our leagues and programs doesn’t just last a quarter or an inning. What we do can last for an eternity. Please join us in getting an “and ONE” for Christ!
